Sister Sunday: Anna!

1. Link to your Tumblr/Name/Chapter/School

cowboybootsandpick-uptruckssubmitted:

My name is Anna :) I go to Elmhurst College in the suburbs of Chicago, and I am a part of the Zeta Iota chapter of Sigma Kappa!

2. Tell us about yourself and when you joined and why you chose Sigma Kappa.
I will be a junior at Elmhurst. I am a Journalism Major with a Dance and Music minor…I want to be a writer who writes about dance or music…but we’ll see if that actually happens. I joined in the fall of 2010 when I was a freshman. Sigma Kappa wasn’t my first choice in the beginning, but when I got my bid I accepted. I am SO glad I did. I don’t think I would be happy anywhere else. Sigma Kappa has taught me so many valuable lessons!

3. Tell us about your chapter! How old is it? Do you have a house/dorm suite/lodge? Do you have traditions different from other chapters? What is greek life like at your school?
My chapter will be celebrating its 35th birthday this coming fall! We are all super excited and we are gonna have a HUGE party! We don’t have a house or anything because in the city where our school is located it is considered a brothel when there are more than 4 people of the same sex with different last names living in the same house…silly, right? Greek life is taking off at my school. There are three sororities and three fraternities ( that doesn’t really seem like a lot.)

4. Tell us about your big, little, etc.
My big, Alex,  is the most amazing woman who has ever walked the planet. She is gorgeous, strong, and has a huge heart. She always knows just what to say to make anything better. We have a secret big/little handshake that only her and I know. My twin, Christine, is my best friend. We are total opposites, but I will love her unconditionally. My littles are my babies. Hannah is more like me that anyone I have ever met. We both share an obsession with country music. Beth is a spunky little spit fire. I love her so much! She is funny and charismatic! My grandbaby, Emma, is just like her big: Spunky and charismatic. My family is growing so much and it just fills my heart with happiness!

5. What is your favorite SK memory?
Every minute I spend with my sisters. It’s impossible to pick a favorite memory. One memory that sticks out is retreat this past fall. I’ve never laughed so hard in my life AND I got my two beautiful littles! :)

6. If you could give once piece of advice to a baby dove what would it be?
You get what you put in to the sorority. If you are involved, take a position, or put yourself out there; you will see just how beautiful Sigma Kappa really is.
7. What would you change about your chapter (or Sigma Kappa in general) if you could? Being more on time. We are always running a half hour late for almost everything!

8.  Are you open to being followed, messaged, and/or sisterstalked?
Yes, yes, a million times yes! I would love to meet all of my sisters who are out there! yay sisters!

9. Anything else to add??
I love meeting sisters. I love wearing my sigma kappa clothes because that means that I might get to meet girls who share the letters I am wearing! :D

fyeahsigmakappa:
SO nice to meet you, Anna! We hope you get SUPER sisterstalked:)

Sister Sunday Update: Mackenna

Me just before Chapter Days (House Tours). Recruitment was so much fun and I grew SO much closer to my sisters!

Hey! SO much has happened since I was a Sister Sunday this past summer. Here’s an update of what my chapter & I have been up to!

Name:  Mackenna annekcam.tumblr.com
Chapter: Upsilon (Oregon State University)

Last time you heard from me:
I was a fairly new member— I was initiated in the spring and was only a ‘few months old’. Now I’ve been in for ten months and it’s been wonderful!

My Twin & I before we left for the summer.

What’s new:
Summer ended with two weeks of amazing preparation for recruitment. I was fresh back from the most amazing trip to South Africa and couldn’t wait to see everyone! The house got a mini-makeover and our rec room got totally re-done. The whole place was sparkling when we got back!

Our Emily is amazing!

My sister Emily chalked this by the MU earlier in the year. It was SO pretty. (My sister Dawn took this picture!) We have a lot of talented artists and photographers in the house!

Picking up trash for Inherit the Earth:)

After all our preperation, recruitment went off without a hitch. On Bid Day, we welcomed 54 new members— quota plus two. The excitment in the house was absolutely amazing.

Fall term sped forward and before I knew it Big/Little reveal was here! I got my perfect Little, Ali and she’s fit into our family perfectly.

The house began to discover my love of baking, and now me and a few others are the resident “bakers”— we bake for the house house, and some of the other houses on campus!

Pretty much, life is perfect for me now. It’s the end of fall term and I am going to miss my sisters so much over the break, but I’m also excited to hear about their amazing breaks when they get back. I got voted PR chair a few weeks ago and I’m loving it already!

So Sigma Kappa has just been amazing this year. It’s been so fun getting to know so many sisters on tumblr! Put anything in my ask because I want to meet YOU!

fyeahsigmakappa:
Awesome update! If YOU have been a featured sister and want to update us, feel free! We love hearing from all the chapters!

2. Chapter & School
3. When did you become a Sigma Kappa?

5. Tell us about your chapter— what is greek life like at your school? Do you have a house? How long has your chapter been on campus?
6. What is your favorite Sigma Kappa memory?
7. What advice do you have for new members or for girls considering recruitment?
8. Anything else to add?

PLEASE include photos! We love to see our beautiful sisters!

Also, if you want to submit a post about your whole chapter, we’d love to feature some chapters. Some ideas on what to include:

1. Chapter Name & School

Sister Sunday: Caitlin!

1. Name?

Caitlin- imperativa.tumblr.com

2. Chapter/School?

Theta Mu, UNC Charlotte

3. When did you join Sigma Kappa? Did you do formal recruitment?

I joined during formal recruitment in fall 2007. I go through the Order of the Triangle ceremony on December 4th, and I cannot believe it’s almost over.

4. Tell us about your big, little, G, GG, etc, and your family as a whole.

My big is Justine! She graduated already, and to fill her empty hole in my heart, I took on four little sisters. I now have 6 grandlittles, I have 4 great grandlittles, and 2 great great grandlittles. My family is called The Glam Fam! They are my rock, my everything.

5. What is your favorite Sigma Kappa memory?

My favorite memory is the day of initiation. I joined my older sister’s chapter, and it brought us closer together than I could have ever hoped for.

6. What makes Sigma Kappa different from all the other great sororities?

On my campus, the other five sororities always tell us that we have the strongest sisterhood. My chapter is so close, and so full of love, people see that from the outside in and can appreciate it.

7. What’s the best gift you’ve ever gotten as a Sigma Kappa?

My lavalier from my sister one Christmas.

8. What advice do you have for girls who are considering rushing?

I was actually a recruitment counselor this past fall, so I had to tell girls this a lot: Don’t hesitate, it will be the best decision you ever make. My sisters are my everything. I would take a bullet for each and every one of them. My sisters are there for me whenever I need, and I know they always will be. They are my life.

9. Anything else to add?

I cannot believe I’ve been a Sigma Kappa sister for four and a half years. It has been the BEST four and a half years of my life. Without my sisters, I probably wouldn’t have stayed in school. They’re there for me through thick and thin, and I couldn’t ask for a better group of girls to be friends with.

fyeahsigmakappa:
Order of the Triangle today! How exciting! Good luck!
If YOU would like to be the next featured sister, copy and paste your answers (with some photos!) in to our ask!

Dove Love & Happy Sunday:)

1. Name?

Erin- http://hereyouleavetoday.tumblr.com/

2. Chapter/School?

Oregon State University- Upsilon Chapter

3. When did you join Sigma Kappa? Did you do formal recruitment?

I went through formal recruitment in the fall of 2010 as a freshman. It has been the best decision I have made in college.

4. Tell us about your big, little, G, GG, etc, and your family as a whole.

I am part of the Epic-Badass family and this year we have grown exponentially.this is us last year. (I am the blonde one next to the wall)

My big is always there for me and that is the reason why she is my big. Even before we were big/littles she knew when I needed a hug and a pep talk. I can always be honest with her and her with me.

This was before we got my twin who is not pictured. She is the funniest person and is the perfect person to watch south park with while cleaning our room and making weird noises.

These are my littles on Pillow/Paddle exchange. They made me the best Disney paddles in the whole world, I love to just stare at them in my room. I gave them pillow pets with a Sigma Kappa sewn onto the inside. I am really excited about them. They just got initiated and I feel like I have really bonded with them over different things. A week or two ago I got them their first sets of letters! I cannot wait to see how they turned out and give it to them!

5. What is your favorite Sigma Kappa memory?

My favorite Sigma Kappa memory was the moment the last girl left our house on preference night. We blasted the music and danced in the living room for an hour, every single one of my sisters was there dancing like fools. We were still in our heels and purple cocktail dresses. My sister Nicole and I did the worm while other dougied. It was pure magic.

6. What makes Sigma Kappa different from all the other great sororities?

Sigma Kappa is full of real girls. I am not afraid to show my weird Disney obsession with my sisters because I know they will accept me. We’re all different and we all accept each other for those differences instead of judging them for their quirks.

7. What’s the best gift you’ve ever gotten as a Sigma Kappa?

The best gift I have gotten are my paddles from my littles. They knew exactly what would be perfect for me, they wanted me to cry but I didn’t but I should have because the paddles are so amazing! But also I love all my sisters and I do not know what I would be or where I would be if they were not in my life.

8. What advice do you have for girls who are considering rushing?

It is a stressful week but stick through it. And even if you did not get your first choice on bid day, it is the right house for you. Stick it out. One of my sisters dropped out of formal recruitment and ended up joining Sigma Kappa during informal recruitment. It may hurt when you don’t make a connection with a house you thought you made one with but everything works out in some incredible ways.

9. Anything else to add?

I cannot believe how lucky I have been to be in such an incredible house. I would give up anything for these girls and I cannot wait to see what is next to come!
fyeahsigmakappa:
Looks like this girl’s got it figured out! Go Upsilon! We’ve been hearing great things:)

3. When did you join Sigma Kappa? Did you do formal recruitment?
Fall ‘11. Baby Dove :) And yes, I went through formal recruitment

4. Tell us about your big, little, G, GG, etc, and your family as a whole.
I’m in the Farm Family which is one of the smaller familys in our chapter. My big’s name is Leann.  The day before we had to make our big list, 2 other girls in the chapter texted me and told me that Leann and I would be perect big/little. So then Leann texted me and was like “Hey. Wanna go to Panera?” and I was like “duh”. So then we went. We’re really comfortable around each other and we’re both big sweethearts/good girls. haha. She is Vice President of Communications for spring 11 and Fall 12. SO PROUD. :)

All of our New Member meetings had themes. Ashley, Me, Megan, and Hailey on Disney Night.

5. What is your favorite Sigma Kappa memory?

One night after a meeting, me and some of the girls I’m closest to in my pledge class were sitting in the formal just hanging out and ALL of the upperclassmen kept popping their heads in and asking us what we were scheming. And we were just sitting there! Amy, our president, was like “I’ve got my eye on you”. We were literally just sitting in the formal. It was hilarious.

6. What makes Sigma Kappa different from all the other great sororities?
My chapter does SO many great things for our community.   That’s something I really love about it. We’re all about helping people. Another thing that I love is how weird everyone is. You think you’re weird and then you get to know your sisters and you realize they’re freaking weird too. I love it.

7. What’s the best gift you’ve ever gotten as a Sigma Kappa?
Well, Leann is the cutest little crafter ever. But, my favorite gift is the Lavalier my mom passed down to me.

8. What advice do you have for girls who are considering rushing?
Don’t be nervous. You’re just talking to girls who want to know you! They want you to feel comfortable. And don’t stress about which sorority to pick or getting a bid. You’ll know which one you belong to. And they’ll know you belong there. It all works out how it’s supposed to.

9. Anything else to add?
Dove Loveeee to the max <3

Leann and I on Big/Little reveal. Our VPNME told us we had a mandatory self defense meeting and then surprised us with reveal. I think I cried. Which is really embarassing lol

fyeahsigmakappa:

If YOU would like to be featured for Sister Sunday, please copy and paste your answers into my ask and if you’d like, include some photos (highly encouraged). We can’t wait to hear about you!

Sister Sunday: Kellie

I haven’t seen one of these in a while, so I decided to fill it out J

Name?

Kellie  http://freetobeme1.tumblr.com/

2. Chapter/School?

Alumna of the Delta Sigma Chapter at Western Illinois University

3. When did you join Sigma Kappa? Did you do formal recruitment?
I joined during formal recruitment in the fall of 2010
4. Tell us about your big, little, G, GG, etc, and your family as a whole.
I am a member of the seal family.

My big’s name is Melissa.  She’s a law enforcement major, and is one of my really good friends.  She’s one of the people who I can be such a goofball around, and will still claim me as her little and not be embarrassed.  She’s one of the people who I believe really understands me and will always be there for me, and I couldn’t imagine how things would be if she was not my big.  She is one of the nicest people you will ever meet, but never mess with her haha.  She’s the “lady cop” and will ALWAYS be there to back anyone up.

My little’s name is Jamie.  She is a business major, and I am really sad that she will be graduating in the spring. I got her last semester and she is soo much like me.  She’s one of the people that I can talk to about anything.  She’s also one of the people who I know I can be my goofball self around and she will join right in the madness with me.  She was faced with a very tough decision at the end of last semester, which was whether or not to go through with initiation or not, and I am so incredibly proud of her for continuing on.  I knew from the day that I met her that I wanted her to be my little, and I am so glad that she is.

5. What is your favorite Sigma Kappa memory?

There are way too many memories that I have and it is hard to pick a favorite.  But if I had to pick one, I’d say that it was my first initiation as VPNME.  I was soo incredibly nervous, but I felt amazing after.

6. What makes Sigma Kappa different from all the other great sororities?

At least on my campus, I believe that we have such a greater bond as sisters than everyone else.  It may sound selfish, but I have heard from numerous people that they are jealous of how close our chapter is.  I know that I can go to any one of my sisters for anything, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

7. What’s the best gift you’ve ever gotten as a Sigma Kappa?

I received my best friends as a Sigma Kappa.  I found people that I was able to rely on, and people who actually understood me for who I am.

8. What advice do you have for girls who are considering rushing?

Do it without hesitation.  It all may be stressful at first, but once everything is done, it will all be worth it.  Rushing was the best decision I have ever made, and I can’t imagine how my life would be if I hadn’t.

9. Anything else to add?

This is going to sound sad, but DO NOT take your experience for granted.  I was only able to be an active member for a very very short year.  My chapter ended up going dormant at the end of last year.  I never got to experience the active side of formal recruitment, and many many other things that I was looking forward to.  People constantly ask me if I regret joining Sigma Kappa because of everything that happened, but without hesitation, I always say that I never regret it.  Joining Sigma Kappa was the best decision I have ever made.  I have met some of the most amazing people, not only in my chapter and on my campus, but in other chapters as well.  But the moral of this, is to make the best of the time you have as an active member.  You are never going to get a second chance.  Make the best of every experience, because when you get older, you aren’t going to remember the days where you sat around doing nothing all by yourself.  You are going to remember the friendships you made, and the people you met, and the amazing time that you had with your sisters.  So enjoy J Dove love <3

Thanks Kellie! Great answers! And you’re right; we haven’t had a sister sunday in a while! If YOU would like to be featured next sunday, answer the above questions and leave it in the ask. Include pictures if you can!!!

Sister Sunday: Ali!

1. Name?
Ali Cabadas
2. Chapter/School?
Delta Alpha / Eastern Michigan University
3. When did you join Sigma Kappa? Did you do formal recruitment?
I signed up for formal recruitment, but ended up being too scared to actually go. I was disappointed later for letting that stop me, so when COR came around in Winter semester, I went to Sigma Kappa’s! Fun fact: I didn’t visit any other sororities. I came back from SK and I was like yep, I’m done.
4. Tell us about your big, little, G, GG, etc, and your family as a whole.
The Cat family is growing in numbers as of the last two semesters and it’s gonna get bigger! :) My big Holly is alum now, I have two wonderful littles, Devin and Alleena; if you combined them you’d get me. We’re a pretty diverse family though, there’s about…7 of us right now I think?
5. What is your favorite Sigma Kappa memory?
Greek Week! It’s chaotic but I love the togetherness and our incredible teamwork. We actually won the Variety Show this year, which was on a Tuesday, and that incredible high just carried on through the week. So much energy and excitement!
6. What makes Sigma Kappa different from all the other great sororities?
I really love the meaning behind us. I identify with it a lot and it fills me with pride to be associated with it.
7. What’s the best gift you’ve ever gotten as a Sigma Kappa?
MY LITTLES.
8. What advice do you have for girls who are considering rushing?
The obvious answer, be yourself. And my emphasis: seriously, however silly and sometimes weird you are, so are we and you’ve found people you don’t have to worry about being yourself around. In fact, we encourage it.
9. Anything else to add?
Siiiigma Siiiiigma Siiiigma Kaaaappa I’mmm so haaapppy that I ammm a Siiigma Siiigma Siiigma Kaaappa NO-BODY KNOWS! HOW HAP-PY I AM! Because I love screaming that while clapping on the wall.

Sister Sunday: Mackenna!

My Twin and I— before we found out we were twins— at my first function. I’m the blonde one!

1. Name? Mackenna - http://annekcam.tumblr.com/

2. Chapter/School? Upsilon, Oregon State University! We were founded in 1928 :)

3. When did you join Sigma Kappa? Did you do formal recruitment?
I joined Sigma Kappa during informal recruitment in Spring 2011. I’m one of the newest doves :) I transferred to Oregon State for spring term of my freshman year from Southern Oregon University and I wanted to meet some people, so I signed up for informal recruitment. The nicest, most welcoming girls were Sigma Kappas, and before I knew it, I was pledging! I’m in love with my new life and six months later, I haven’t looked back!

4. Tell us about your big, little, G, GG, etc, and your family as a whole.

My family is the Hooter’s Family. Apparently a while back the entire family was rather well known for… being well endowed in the chest area! I think a more appropriate name nowadays might be the Starbucks Family, because we go there so darn much!
My GG is Diana. She’s simply the coolest! She is going to finish school at the end of fall term, but I’m excited to have her for at least that long! The first time the whole family got together with me after Big/Little reveal, we went to Starbucks and Diana watched me figet and completely dismantle my chocolate milk carton. She smiled and told me that I was just like her!

My G is Karissa. I haven’t had much time to get to know her, but she seems like a total sweetheart. She has the prettiest eyes!
My Big is Taylor. She was my first, and as far as I cared, last Heart Sis. I only went on two other heart sis dates, and I knew Taylor was the Big for me. She’s one of the most ‘real’ girls in the whole house, and she has this huge, beautiful smile. I swear it takes up like her entire face.
And last, but certainly not least, is my Twin, Nicole. Long story short was that she was initiated in the fall and already had Taylor for a big, and she didn’t want to share her big with anybody. But then we met and she decided that if she had to share Taylor, I was the one she wanted for a twin. She’s crazy and awesome and is a lot of things I’m not. And we love each other! Out of the fam, she is the one I talk to the most. I can’t wait to be back in Corvallis so that all of us are reunited!
The two of us are super excited for fall term so we can get littles and spoil the poop out of them— I love baking and crafting and giving presents, so I am absolutely certain that I am going to have the most spoiled little of all!

5. What is your favorite Sigma Kappa memory?

I’ve only been an SK a little while and I already have so many memories— going out to dinner with Twin and Erin right after pledging; watching that same pair suffer through a recruitment workshop while completely exhausted; my first function; pretty much every monday night dinner so far; big/little reveal… there’s just too many memories to count. I guess if I had to pick, I’d choose my initiation. It was just a really great night!

7. What’s the best gift you’ve ever gotten as a Sigma Kappa?

My big and the entire house gave me A LOT of presents on my initiation night, and all of them were great. I got the usual tie-blanket and loads of candy and little SK things, and I especially loved the big box of Tazo tea and the Starbucks mug that Big got me, because she knows how much I love those. But I’ll go with the cheesy answer and tell you that the best gift I ever got was sisterhood! I was so hard to meet people as a transfer and every single girl went out of their way to make me feel welcome. Other than choosing to transfer, joining SK was the smartest decision I made all year.

8. What advice do you have for girls who are considering rushing?

Do it! Really. And don’t try to ‘pick’ your house before you begin. Go in with no pre-made notions and don’t listen to what other people say. Choose the place that feels most like home. And don’t try to be anyone you’re not. The house that fits you the best will find you if you let them!

9. Anything else to add?

Upsilon is great, and I love all my sisters at Oregon State, but what’s even better is how the ladies here on tumblr span all chapters! I thought I knew what sisterhood meant when I got initiated, but this summer I’ve learned just how many sisters I have. Near and far, we are all united by one heart, one way. Apart we are good, but together we are great. Each one of us has become part of something better and that is something profound.

Dove Love forever,
Kenna.

Me after pledging, the ‘shoe circle’ just before initiation, and me, big, and twin after my initiation.

My family— gbig, big, me, and twin. This was right after big/little reveal. My GG was there for most of it, too, but she had to leave before this picture was taken.

What a cutie. If you would like to be the next Sister Sunday, copy and paste your answers into the submit box! Dove love!

Sister Survey: Amandine

1. Name? Amandine-http://pearlsandcasebooks.tumblr.com/

2. Chapter/School? Kappa Omicron, Florida International University, Miami, FL

3. When did you join Sigma Kappa? Did you do formal recruitment? I joined fall 09 through formal recruitment.

4. Tell us about your big, little, G, GG, etc, and your family as a whole. My big is one of the founding sisters and she is the most wonderful person I’ve ever met. Now that I live in Texas we don’t get to talk as much as we’d like to, but whenever we get a chance to catch up it’s as if no time has passed. I don’t have a little because I graduated before I had the opportunity to get one. My family is the ice cream family because we love ice cream and I made my big a paddle that was shaped like an ice cream cone. Sadly, our family line has ended since my sib disaffiliated and now my Big and I are both alumnae.

5. What is your favorite Sigma Kappa memory?

I really can’t pick just one, but I love all of the random times. I had a kitchen in my dorm so I’d invite the younger sisters who didn’t have kitchens to “Pasta Parties” so that they could get a break from cafeteria food. I had a couple of pancake breakfasts too. I loved doing my little part to help out my sisters.

7. What’s the best gift you’ve ever gotten as a Sigma Kappa?

My favorite gift is probably my lettered shirt that I got from my Big that says “Laura’s Little Lawyer” on the back. She got it for me after I got into law school.

8. What advice do you have for girls who are considering rushing?

Be yourself. Be honest with yourself about why you want to join a sorority. Understand that it is a big financial and time commitment, and it’s really upsetting when sisters that you’re close to disaffiliate so make sure you’re making the right decision when you accept your bid card and/or get initiated.

9. Anything else to add?

Without Sigma Kappa I would have looked back on my years at FIU with regret. Now I look back proud to have participated in something greater than myself, to have become more involved at FIU, and I have made life long sisters.

2. Chapter/School? Gamma Theta - CSU Long Beach

3. When did you join Sigma Kappa? Did you do formal recruitment?

4. Tell us about your big, little, G, GG, etc, and your family as a whole.

I’m part of the GLAM FAM! Our family symbol is the Diamond. In the photo is my GSquared Lori, my Biggy Whitney, my GBiggy Amber and me, the littlest of the line. Things I learned about my family, you have to take the good in with the weird and be prepared to embrace an obsessive love for Disneyland, Star Wars and Harry Potter lol

5. What is your favorite Sigma Kappa memory?

The Monday after Greek Week when we found out our team won Greek Week. We had team mates sprint across campus to find the poster announcing who won. And in the matter of minutes I was calling every Sigma Kappa I could get a hold of to tell them the amazing news! As Activities Chair I could not been any prouder of our team!

7. What’s the best gift you’ve ever gotten as a Sigma Kappa?

I was spoiled a lot by my big. On initiation day I not only got my first set of letters but a blanket. The blanket is still my absolute favorite thing I got. It’s in Gryffindor colors Red with my Letters and my name in Gold stitching. I swear it’s the world’s softest and fluffiest blanket ever!

8. What advice do you have for girls who are considering rushing?

Thought you had good friends before? Having sisters is like on a whole different playing field. After the most intense 3 days of recruitment of my life, it’s still one of the best decision I ever made. You won’t regret it when you know you’ll always have a sister to be there for you.

9. Anything else to add?

This summer I’ve found a whole new love for Sigma Kappa. It’s the sisterhood and friendships built through Tumblr. I’ve had the chance to look into the lives of sisters across the country and find out all the things that make them and their chapters amazing. I could not have been anymore blessed than to be apart of Sigma Kappa <3 LISK

Sister Sunday: Emily-Ann :)

1. Name? Emily-Ann Jugowicz

2. Chapter/School? Delta Alpha / Eastern Michigan University

3. When did you join Sigma Kappa? Did you do formal recruitment? This is kind of a long, odd story. Wiki version: I went through COB Winter 2008 and was held over until Fall 2008. I was initiated in 2008. 1022 <3

4. Tell us about your big, little, G, GG, etc, and your family as a whole. Well, I’m a ladybug and before Fall 2010 we were the biggest family line! Now we’re pretty even with the Cows and Tigers <3 my BIG, Sam, is amazing. I absolutely adore her. My littler, MJ, is absolutely perfect and what I wish every Sigma Kappa would aspire to be. That’s as far as we go thus far! Hopefully MJ takes a little this fall! <3

5. What is your favorite Sigma Kappa memory? Living in the house, no doubt. Random Meijer runs, slurpee runs, bubble tea runs - but definitely Christmas 2009 where we built a fort in the chapter room and kept it up for three days during finals.

6. What makes Sigma Kappa different from all the other great sororities? Definitely our values. We are bound by a Promise to live them out every day until we die. And that we do. It’s truly a beautiful thing.

7. What’s the best gift you’ve ever gotten as a Sigma Kappa? Cue Cheesy Answer: A chance. A chance to be who I knew all along I could be, with a push from some absolutely amazing women, not just from my chapter, but around the states. A chance to be an equally as wonderful sister as all of mine have been. A chance for true friendship and bonding that will last a lifetime.

8. What advice do you have for girls who are considering rushing? As current VPM of my chapter I cannot stress this enough: Just be yourself! Don’t be who you ‘think’ we are. Not only will you be disappointed if/when you get a bid, but we will too. You’re basing your next four (or five…or six) years in college off of a few nights, we’re basing our chapter off of you. Be yourself! We will love you for you!

9. Anything else to add? Sigma K born and Sigma K bred and when I die I’ll be Sigma K dead <3

Formal 2010
